Friends With Dreams x Tams

When I was in highschool and starting to re-work my own clothes I would often go into my Mums closet and take her pieces (always without permission) and redesign them into something new for me to wear to school on Mondays. She would get so frustrated with me for cutting up her clothes that she would repeatedly say  “ This isn’t a department store, you can’t keep shopping through my closet!”  I did it anyway. The truth is while many of the kids I went to school with could afford the latest trends I didn’t have the funds to keep up. In retrospect this lack of money is what birthed a huge part of my creative determination. I wanted to prove to myself that I could make clothes that looked just as cool as everyone else. 

Chinese Department Store is a dedication to my mom who if it wasn’t for her wardrobe I likely wouldn’t have become the designer I am today. Every Tams item sold under Chinese Department Store is under $100. It is important to me that everyone has access to Tams while still feeling unique and special with the design you choose.
