The Onyan Story
Growing up, if I heard my dad call my mum by her name, it was always by the nickname he gave her. Her name is Anne Yen, but with his Hebrew accent it always sounded like he was pronouncing the word “onion”. When I was young, I asked him why he called her by that name, and he told me he called her Onion because she was complex and layered like an onion.
The technique I’ve applied to these hoodies are layered and intentionally chaotic. Over time wash and wear age beautifully into a hoodie that is complex and layered just like my mum. These pieces take days to produce and are made from vintage hoods and deadstock materials. Always made with love, this piece is inspired by my dads love for my mama.
